Inspiration

Just a bunch of things that I like but no one pays me to support.

WrestleMania

Saturday 4/10/21 – Sunday 4/11/21. I don’t support everything the WWE does, but I would be lying if I said it wasn’t thoroughly entertaining! Check out Issue 3: Wake With Ebullience to learn why I love it so much and what we can learn from the WWE performers.

Think Like A Monk by Jay Shetty

Probably my favorite, and most talked about book! Jay is my spirit guide and this book is truly life-changing. I tell anyone who will listen that its amazing. Jay Shetty talks about his time in school in London and spending his summers in an ashram living as a monk. He explains the ideals of monk-life in an engaging, accessible way and guides you on how this way of life can be incorporated into life outside of an ashram. Every page makes you feel enlightened and inspired and I want to highlight every word because they are all just that important. Anyway, just go read it. It rocks.

Free Will by Sam Harris

Does a lack of control excite and liberate you? Or terrify and anger you? For those who enjoy a spirited debate or a thought-provoking conversation, this one is for you! Sam Harris presents his ideas clearly and concisely with convincing evidence and a confident voice. Engaging to consume. Fascinating to ponder. Controversial to some. If you are brave enough, this book will leave you feeling empowered and wise like never before. Or you might hate it. Who knows.

Courses.edx

Is it ed-ex or E.D.X.? I’m not sure, but I know its cool! Free courses from schools all over the world. You can pay to have a certificate that says you did the thing, or you can just take them for fun because, like me, you are curious about everything and a lot of time to spare! Happy learning!

Stoic Coffee Break podcast hosted by Erick Cloward

Credits to my husband for introducing me to this short podcast that has become my new go-to! In ~10 minutes, Erick walks you through one of the principles of Stoicism and how to apply it in life. His voice is soothing and his topics are important. If you are like me and just trying to be happy in life as much as possible, I highly recommend this podcast! I listen on Spotify, but it’s probably also on other apps…? Or he has a website. That works too.

The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon

You are in for a treat with any of his novels in this collection! They tell the mysterious tales of several characters whose lives span generations but all involve a wonderful labyrinth full of forgotten books. A beautiful novel that only made my love of books grow. A different genre than I typically read (regrettably, its not a true story) but an exciting option to switch things up!

QI – Quite Interesting

British panel show that is hilariously funny while also teaching you some things you probably didn’t know. Originally hosted by Stephen Fry (if you don’t know who he is, you are missing out) and currently hosted by Sandi Toksvig (used to co-host The Great British Bake Off). This show is where I learn most of my fun facts. My life goal is basically just to learn as much as possible AND have the maximum amount of fun, so this show is perfect for me!

Dogs.

All dogs. 1000/10. Will always recommend. If you don’t have a dog, I’m sorry that your life is not as good as it could be. Adopt a dog. These are my rescue pups: Maverick (left) and Oso (right). They are wonderful and handsome and I love them to bits. Stay tuned for more information about my dogs.
